Currently, there are only 1,100 dormitory beds for 17,000 students – an unreasonably low number for the largest comprehensive research university serving the country’s northern region. The lack of affordable housing spaces limits the University’s ability to attract a greater number of outstanding students in the north. The University’s leadership is committed to providing safe and affordable campus housing for the full spectrum of our diverse student body and is especially interested in providing higher education opportunities to high-achieving, low-income students. Therefore, the University is launching an immediate and urgent campaign to build affordable dormitories on campus.
