Since the October 7th terrorist attack and the ensuing war on multiple fronts, the City of Haifa has been cast under a long shadow, severely disrupting academic life and testing our resilience.
The impact on our students and faculty has been profound. Over 2,000 of our students have served in IDF reserve duty. International research collaborations are being canceled due to rising global antisemitism, and securing research grants from international bodies has become increasingly difficult. In the northern region, where rocket fire has displaced over 70,000 residents, recruiting and retaining top researchers has become particularly challenging.
To address these unprecedented challenges head-on, we invite you to support The Returning Scientists Program, a vital national initiative that is bringing talented Israeli STEM researchers back home. This program, combined with major developments at the University like our new Herta and Paul Amir School of Medicine, will help revitalize northern Israel’s academic landscape, strengthen Israel’s position as a world leader in healthcare innovation, and improve STEM education in Israel.
