We propose a non-governmental Long Term Ecological Research station (LTER) network. The network will consist of four stations that will provide vital long-term data regarding the physical, chemical and biological condition of the EMSB and will include prominent use of satellite data. The network will be under an academic umbrella that will assure the highest standards of data quality. The network will also be used as a base for marine research and student training in the different disciplines of marine studies with a focus on marine ecology.
