The Laboratory for Molecular Pathways in the Resolution of Inflammation

Researchers at the University of Haifa’s Laboratory for Molecular Pathways in the Resolution of Inflammation are focused on understanding the chemical processes involved in inflammation and tissue repair at the cellular and molecular level and aim to harness the immune system to conquer fibrosis and cancer.  They recently identified a process within the immune system that isolates a critical component in the “decision-making process” of white blood cells.  “This discovery can assist in the development of new drugs that are based on the natural processes that take place in the human body, unlike most of the existing drugs that attempt to curb inflammation by artificial means,” explains Dr. Amiram Ariel, Head of the Laboratory for Molecular Pathways in the Resolution of Inflammation.
